[入學] ISS Check-In 國際學生報到流程

本篇文章主要參考 2016 UW-Madison 國際學生服務處 (International Student Service, ISS) 在新生入學前寄送的電子報。基本上這邊的內容是每個人最後都會在信箱裡面收到的，所以這篇的主要目的是要幫助大家了解國際學生的報到流程大概是怎麼樣子，幫助大家先知道概略的狀況，這樣到新環境比較不會手忙腳亂。

新生報到處位置＆地圖

剛來學校應該都還不太曉得學校的環境，可以趁著去報到的路上逛一逛，享受一下難得的悠哉時光跟熟悉環境，尤其夏天湖邊的景色非常漂亮，可以多花點時間走走！報到處會設置在Helen C. White Hall 內的 College Library ，位置在地圖的左上方，ISS 所在的辦公室則位於右方紅點處的 Red Gym 二樓。Red Gym 外觀看起來是一座紅色的城堡，非常好認。

報到處

抵達位於 Helen C. White Hall 內的 College Library 之後，在二樓找到了 ISS 的報到處，在這邊會有學生協助你完成報到手續。報到手續的詳細內容在下文有寫。報到完成之後也可以順便看一看 ISS 的兩大 program：Bridge & Reach 的相關資訊。下面列出校方提供的報到步驟：

STEP 1: UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFO | 更新個人/緊急連絡資訊

這一步可以在網路上先更新，或是到報到處現場更新也可以。

Update your mailing address (where you live in Madison), your home address (your foreign address), and provide an emergency contact in your Student Center in MyUW. Your emergency contact can be someone in the US or abroad that the university will contact in case of an emergency.

STEP 2: CHECK IN WITH ISS | 到 ISS 報到處報到

2016的報到時間是August 15 - September 2 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.，不同年度時間可能不同，這部分要請大家自行確認當年度開放報到的時間。記得要帶著護照跟你的 I-20/DS-2019 文件正本歐！

Come in early and avoid the wait! During check-in, ISS staff will scan your immigration documents and verify that you completed Step 1. Orientation assistants can tell you more about ISS, orientation, welcome events, and answer your questions about Madison and campus life. We look forward to meeting you! Please bring:

1. Passport
2. I-20 or DS-2019
3. Local address
4. NetID & password for MyUW

Students who have completed one degree at UW-Madison and are continuing their studies or starting a new degree program at UW-Madison on the same SEVIS record do not need to check in or attend ISS orientation again.

STEP 3: ATTEND THE ISS ORIENTATION DESIGNED FOR YOU | 參加新生說明會

在信件中會標明當年度的新生說明會場次，可以選擇自己合適的時間參與。如果不確定場次的話也可以在報導的時候詢問現場人員。

• DEGREE-SEEKING UNDERGRADUATES
• You will attend an ISS orientation that is associated with SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration). When you make your SOAR reservation, your ISS orientation will be on your SOAR schedule. If you are eligible to attend SOAR prior to Monday, August 29, contact ISS for more information about ISS orientation. To sign up for SOAR, see soar.wisc.edu.

• GRADUATE & PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS
• If you are a new graduate or professional student beginning your degree program, please check in with ISS prior to orientation and get your original documents scanned. (See Step 1 & 2.)

STEP 4: ATTEND WELCOME EVENTS | 參加歡迎活動

剛開學 ISS 會有很多的新生歡迎活動，大家有空的話可以去參加看看，應該都會有一些免費食物可以吃，也可以趁此讓自己盡快融入學校的生活。如果一時找不到有車的朋友幫忙，也可以跟著學校的採購行程去辦手機跟買寢具。

• ISS Shopping Trip - Bed Bath & Beyond and AT&T
• Need to pick up some items to furnish your new apartment or room? There will be a free shuttle bus to Bed Bath & Beyond and AT&T near West Towne Mall. Bed Bath & Beyond is also next to Target. Exclusive discounts will be offered only during this event. The buses will leave from and return to the Chazen Art Museum every 30-45 minutes.

• New International Student Welcome Event
• Join us as we celebrate the fall semester and welcome new students to campus. Come socialize with other students and ISS staff members. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make new friends and connections and enjoy some refreshments! More details to come.

STEP 5: ATTEND TAIWANESE WELCOME EVENT | 參加臺灣學生會的歡迎活動

這一點是我自己加上去的，參加了學校跟系上各式各樣的活動之後，別忘了要參加臺灣學生會的迎新活動啊！剛開學多認識一點台灣人，對未來的生活都會很有幫助的！
